Nicholas A. Trutanich, the United States Attorney for the District of Nevada, has announced that his office will put in place a coordinator to help lead investigations and prosecutions of coronavirus fraud. Trutanich reportedly made this move anticipating that fraudsters will try to benefit from the coronavirus pandemic.
“Wrongdoers seeking to take advantage of individuals – through fraud or force – during this health crisis are now on notice,” the U.S. Attorney stated. “The U.S. Attorney’s Office COVID-19 Fraud Coordinator will be working with law enforcement at all levels to investigate and prosecute those who exploit the fears of Nevadans for personal gain. This conduct will not be tolerated in Nevada.”
